Antique terracotta jar with the Maltese Cross, octagonal (constituted by eight bits).It is of Byzantine origin. Probably the cross dating from the sixth century AD and it represents the Eight Beatitudes of St. Matthew. Symbolically the Maltese Cross is also Eternity. The Maltese Cross is also known as the “Cross of St. John” was first adopted by the Maritime Republic of Amalfi, and probably the first job was the eleventh century.
